The CDC reports that there were 38,329 drug overdose deaths nationwide in 2010. Over 60 percent of the overdoses were caused by medicines, mostly prescription drugs like OxyContin, Vicodin, and Valium. The number of deaths from marijuana remains a big fat zero. The federal and state government’s war on drugs has the wrong target. Truly, the war on drugs is a war on freedom.
